MICRO HARDNESS TESTER
MAKE DINESH SCIENTIFIC
DESCRIPTION
A Digital Micro Vickers Hardness Tester is an instrument used to measure the hardness of small materials or thin coatings with high precision. Here’s a general description of its components and how it works:
KEY COMPONENTS
- Diamond Indenter: The tester uses a diamond pyramid indenter with a specific geometry (typically a square-based pyramid with a 136-degree angle between opposite faces) to apply a force to the sample.
- Load Cell: The load cell applies a precise amount of force to the indenter. The tester can apply different loads, typically ranging from a few grams to a few kilograms.
- Optical System: This includes a high-magnification objective lens and a camera or microscope that helps visualize and measure the indentation on the sample surface.
- Digital Display/Controller: The tester features a digital interface for setting parameters, displaying results, and controlling the device.
- Computer Interface (optional): Some models come with software for advanced analysis and data management.
WORKING PRINCIPLE
- Indentation: The diamond indenter is pressed into the material surface under a controlled load. The test applies a predetermined load for a specific duration.
- Measurement: After the load is removed, the optical system measures the size of the indentation left on the material. This is usually done by imaging the indentation and measuring its diagonal lengths using the optical system.
FEATURES
- Touch-panel operation
- Using a measuring microscope to measure the dimensions of the indentation
- Positioning with a manual XY stage unit
