DESCRIPTION:

An HDT (Heat Deflection Temperature) tester is a vital instrument in the plastics and polymer industries used to determine the temperature at which a material deforms under a specific load. This measurement is crucial for understanding how materials will perform under mechanical stress at elevated temperatures.

The HDT tester typically includes a heating system, a load application mechanism, and a sample mounting station. The process begins by applying a standard load to a material sample. The temperature is then gradually increased, usually at a rate of 2°C per minute. The tester monitors the deflection of the sample, and the temperature at which the material reaches a specified deflection (commonly 0.25 mm or 1.0 mm) is recorded as the HDT.
