Coupled Pendulum Oscillations Without Data Logger
Make Dinesh Scientific Model DS-601
Product Description
If the pendulums both have the same length one pendulum comes to a complete stop before alternating motion. This phenomenon can be used to show balanced and unbalanced forces, how motion can be used to predict future motion, and the conservation of energy, Two identical pendulums of length L and mass m are connected through a weak spring of spring constant k. As our initial condition, we choose both pendulums at rest, with the right one in its equilibrium position and the left one given a finite amplitude.
Specifications:
To study the characteristic frequencies of the coupled pendulum.
To determine the coupling factors for various coupling lengths, the angular frequencies for “in-phase” and “in opposite phase” vibration, and the angular frequencies of the beat mode.
To study the linear relation between the square of the coupling lengths, beat mode, and the square of the frequency for “in-opposite phase” vibration and to determine the spring constant of the coupling spring. The complete setup should include
