FLUID BED PROCESSOR
MAKE DINESH SCIENTIFIC
DESCRIPTION:
A fluid bed processor is a type of equipment used in various industries, particularly in pharmaceuticals, food processing, and chemical engineering, for processes such as drying, granulating, and coating particles or powders. The principle behind fluid bed processing involves suspending solid particles in an upward-flowing stream of air or gas, creating a fluidized state that allows for efficient heat and mass transfer.
KEY COMPONENTS OF A FLUID BED PROCESSOR:
- Air Distribution Plate: A perforated plate that allows air or gas to pass through and uniformly distribute the particles into a fluidized state.
- Inlet Air System: Heats and filters the air or gas before it enters the processing chamber to maintain consistent processing conditions.
- Processing Chamber: The main section where particles are fluidized. It is often cylindrical and designed to ensure uniform fluidization.
- Exhaust System: Removes the air or gas, along with moisture or solvents, from the processing chamber. It includes filters to capture fine particles.
- Spray Nozzle (for granulation and coating): Disperses liquids (binding solutions, coatings) into the fluidized particles, facilitating processes like granulation and coating.
- Control System: Monitors and regulates various parameters such as air flow, temperature, and spray rate to ensure optimal processing conditions.
APPLICATIONS:
- Drying: Removes moisture from wet granules or powders by passing hot air through the fluidized bed, ensuring uniform drying and preventing agglomeration.
