VERTICAL ELECTROPHORESIS SYSTEM
MAKE DINESH SCIENTIFIC
DESCRIPTION
A Vertical Electrophoresis System is a laboratory apparatus used to separate biomolecules like proteins and nucleic acids based on their size and electrical charge. In this system, the gel is positioned vertically, and samples are loaded into wells at the top. An electric field is applied, causing the molecules to migrate through the gel. This movement allows for the differentiation of molecules by size, with smaller molecules moving faster than larger ones. The system is commonly used in molecular biology, biochemistry, and clinical research for applications such as protein analysis, DNA/RNA separation, and diagnostics. It typically includes features like buffer reservoirs, gel cassettes, and power supply connections for controlled electrophoresis runs.
VERTICAL GEL FORMAT:
- The gel is positioned vertically for sample migration, ensuring efficient separation of biomolecules.
- Adjustable Voltage Control: Allows users to set precise voltage levels for optimal separation based on the molecule type.
- Buffer Reservoirs: Separate reservoirs for the anode and cathode to maintain a stable buffer system during electrophoresis.
- Gel Cassettes/Plates: Supports the gel matrix for sample loading and running, available in different sizes for various applications.
- Sample Loading Wells: Located at the top of the gel for easy sample insertion.
- Temperature Control: Some systems feature cooling mechanisms to prevent overheating during long runs.
- Easy Assembly/Disassembly: Modular design allows for quick assembly and cleanup of the gel and buffer components.
PURPOSE:
- The term “vertical electrophoresis system” describes a type of equipment that is frequently used in molecular biology and cell biology labs to separate DNA, RNA, and protein according to their size, mass, and/or electrical charge in PAGE and SDS PAGE gels.
SAFETY FEATURES:
- No-load detection
- Sudden load change detection
- Overload/short circuit protection
- Ground leak detection
- Over-temperature protection
- Over voltage protection
