DESCRIPTION

When crushing hard, abrasive materials, a jaw crusher is the primary crusher that is used. Put simply, it’s a device that uses an oscillating jaw set on a pivoting shaft to break up rock or ore into smaller pieces. An overview of the main parts and operation of a jaw crusher is provided here.

PARTS:

FIXED JAW: The crusher frame’s fixed jaw is a fixed component that never moves. It functions as the moving jaw’s mounting base.

MOVEABLE JAW: The moveable jaw rotates around the eccentric shaft to which it is attached. Crushing the material delivered into the crusher chamber, it oscillates back and forth against the stationary jaw.

STRANGE SHAFT: A shaft that passes through the crusher’s frame is called the eccentric shaft. It moves the movable jaw in an elliptical pattern since it is attached to it.

SWITCH PLATE: The mechanism known as the toggle plate aids in transferring the eccentric shaft’s motion to the moving jaw. Additionally, it functions as a fuse and breaks if an excessive amount of force is applied, providing a safety mechanism in the event of an overload.

SET OF ADJUSTMENTS: The size of the crushed material can be controlled by adjusting the discharge hole size using this set. Toggle plates, toggle seats, and tension rods are usually included.

FLYWHEEL: To aid in smooth operation, the flywheel is a heavy wheel designed to store energy during the crushing cycle’s idle phase and send it to the crushing action during the working half.

SHIM OR WEDGE: These are employed to regulate the size of the crushed material by adjusting the space between the movable and fixed jaws.
